Bio – Amanda Duncan
I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from the University of Central England in 2006. Prior to that I had worked as a training consultant in the insurance industry.
Since qualifying I have worked both for the NHS and privately with a range of client needs and age groups.
Currently I work with children from pre school to primary age and I specialise in working with severe speech sound difficulty, including Childhood Apraxia of Speech. I also work with families of children who stammer or have early language delay.
I have completed post graduate training to increase my knowledge and treatment of speech disorders, in particular, Oro-Myofunctional Therapy (with the IAOM), Childhood Apraxia of Speech – Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cuing (DTTC) and Nuffield Dyspraxia Centre. I’ve also completed training in early language development (Parent Child Interaction Therapy) and Stammering (Palin Parent Child Interaction Therapy and Solution Focused Brief Therapy).
I offer assessment and therapy for children in their home, an education setting, or by tele-therapy.
As well as working directly with children, my passion is passing on skills and knowledge to the adults in their lives. I work closely with parents to support their children. I also offer speech, language and communication training to Early Years settings and Reception staff and can organise bespoke packages for settings. I have a background in training and have completed a PTLLS course in adult learning.
Educational training can be carried out on inset days or during twilight sessions.
